Local children work to get a sign to protect ducks crossing the road

Why did the duck cross the road?  To get to the other side, of course.  But the road has to be safe to cross first.  Some fifth graders at Marshpoint Elementary School have been concerned about ducks that live in a pond near their school.  After working on it for months, they managed to convince the county to put up a “duck crossing sign” Tuesday

Free Eye Exams For Service Dogs

Some dogs do more than serve as pets…they actually work to provide important services to others.  Those dogs include seeing eye dogs, search and rescue dogs, and police k-9 among others.  This week the American Veterinary Medical Association is giving back to them with free eye exams.
