Hardy helps Savannah State outlast Longwood in overtime

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) - Patrick Hardy scored four of his 10 points

in overtime to lead Savannah State to a 69-66 win over Longwood.

Longwood's Lamar Barrett made two free throws with no time left

in regulation to tie the score at 59-59 and his jumper put Longwood

ahead 66-64 with 2:06 left in overtime, but the Lancers went

scoreless the rest of the game.

Anthony Jones' jumper with 53 seconds left gave Savannah State a

67-66 lead and Hardy made two free throws with 18 seconds remaining

to close the scoring today.

Chris Linton led Savannah State (11-16) with 14 points.

Bennett had a career-high 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for

Longwood (6-21), which saw a two-game winning streak snapped. Kirk

Williams added 15 points and Brandon Giles scored 11.
