Samford beats Georgia Southern, 31-10
Eagles finish up their season with two straight home games starting November 14th.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Dustin Taliaferro threw two touchdown
passes and ran for a score, as Samford beat Georgia Southern 31-10
on Saturday.
Taliaferro went 11-for-20 for 150 yards, including an 8-yard
touchdown pass to Richie Fordham and a 69-yarder to Riley Hawkins.
With the game tied at 10 in the second quarter, Hawkins’
touchdown catch gave the Bulldogs a 17-10 lead at halftime.
Taliaferro scored on an 3-yard run to increase the lead to 24-10 in
the third. The Bulldogs (4-5, 2-4 Southern Conference) got their
final score on a 57-yard pass from Fordham to Alex Bennett.
Brandon Nolley scored the only touchdown for the Eagles (4-5,
3-3) on a 26-yard run.
The Bulldogs picked off Eagles’ quarterback Lee Chapple three
times. Chapple went 29-for-43 with 212 yards.
