Coach

Head Football Coach Scott Roberts

A native of Ocilla, Georgia, Scott Roberts was a four sport athlete at Irwin County High School including quarterback of the football team. He attended South Georgia College where he was a member of the Tiger baseball team. After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a BBA in Finance, he served one year as a graduate assistant coach on the baseball team at Georgia Southwestern.

Coach Roberts coached wide receivers from 1997-1999 at Fitzgerald High School and also served as the head baseball coach. In 2000, he coached wide receivers at Cairo High School where the Syrupmakers were 12-2, Region 1-AAAA champions, and played in the semi-finals in the Georgia Dome. He was the offensive coordinator for two years at Jackson County High School while coaching quarterbacks and running backs. He coached running backs for the Region 1-AAAAA Colquitt County Packers in 2004 before returning to Cairo High School for the last 3 years where last year the Syrupmakers were 13-2, won the 1-AAA region championship, and played for the AAA State Championship.

This is Coach Roberts’ first year as Swainsboro High School’s Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. He is married to the former Christy Prince who teaches English at SHS. They have two daughters, Riley (7) and Lainey (4).
