Considering we’re ending the year with above average rainfall totals, I suppose it’s only appropriate that we end the year with yet another rain event.  It may not be the news you want to hear, but I do have something positive to tell you.

Several area rivers remain at or above flood stage.  Additional rain is forecast late Wednesday through early Friday which may delay the fall of these rivers…

Wow, what a day!  The forecast turned out as predicted…heavy rain and flooding for much of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.  Much of the area picked up at least 1 inch of rain, but some locations picked up as much as 4 inches!

Even if the rain has stopped falling in your area, it’s still a good idea to play it safe.

Now through 5p.m., expect widespread rain that will fall across parts of SE South Carolina and SE Georgia to the North of I-16.

1:45 p.m.: Significant standing water reported on Abercorn Street in Savannah in the area of 63rd Street.  Also, lanes blocked on parts of East Victory Dr. due to water.  Drive with Caution.  Flash flood watch remains in effect through 9pm this evening.

The Ogeechee… Ohoopee… Savannah… and Canoochee Rivers are out of their banks in several locations.

Strong onshore winds and rainfall leading to higher than normal tides.

2-3 Inches of additional rain possible through this evening.

Friday rain totals could reach between 1 and 3 inches, and flooding it going to be a definite concern.
