Flood Advisory until 4 pm Friday
A flood advisory is in effect for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in northwestern Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Evans, Jenkins, northwestern Liberty, Long, southwestern Screven, and Tattnall Counties in southeast Georgia until 4:00 pm Friday.
At 1:01 pm national weather service doppler radar indicated heavy rain occurring within clusters of showers and thunderstorms located along and west of a line from Sylvania to Pembroke to Hinesville to Ludowici. These clusters of storms had little movement…moving to the north northwest at 10 mph or less.
This heavy rainfall will result in significant ponding of water on area roads and in low spots. Slow down to reduce the risk of hydroplaning. If water covers the entire roadway or is flowing…find another route. The water is probably much deeper than it appears and only one foot of water can stall a vehicle. When encountering flooded roads make the smart choice…turn around…don’t drown.
