Heat Advisory in Effect This Afternoon and Evening

A heat advisory is now in effect from 2 pm this afternoon to 8 pm edt this evening.

Jenkins- Screven- Candler- Bulloch- Effingham- Tattnall- Evans- inland Bryan- inland Chatham- Long- inland Liberty- inland Mcintosh- Allendale- Hampton- Jasper- Beaufort-

Including the cities of… Millen… Sylvania… Metter… Statesboro… Springfield… Reidsville… Claxton… Pembroke… Savannah… Ludowici… Hinesville… Townsend… Allendale… Hampton… Ridgeland… Beaufort… Hilton Head… Jasper

High temperatures in the upper 90s and humid conditions will produce heat indices around 105 degrees for one to two hours this afternoon and early evening in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. Highest heat indices will occur between 3 pm and 6 pm.

A heat advisory means that a period of very hot temperatures can be expected. The combination of heat and humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. You are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids…stay out of direct sunshine…check up on the elderly and stay in an air conditioned
location if possible.
