Here at News 3, we are all getting ready…ready for the big day!  I’ll be out at Lafayette Square covering the parade early in the morning until early afternoon, and I will bring along my raincoat.

There is a storm system that’s dropping light to moderate rain over Texas and Louisiana right now.  This is the same storm system that will head our way, and it could bring some light rain on St. Patrick’s Day.  But before you get too upset….this is supposed to be a light rain event!

A DENSE FOG ADVISORY is in effect until 5a.m. Saturday for the following counties:  coastal Bryan, coastal Chatham, coastal Liberty, coastal McIntosh, Beaufort, coastal Colleton and coastal Jasper.

It will rain on Thursday, and we could see a few isolated thunderstorms.

A DENSE FOG ADVISORY is in effect until 8a.m. Tuesday for the following counties:  Jenkins, Screven, Candler, Bulloch, Effingham, Tattnall, Evans, Bryan, Chatham, Long, Liberty, McIntosh, Allendale, Hampton, Colleton, Jasper, and Beaufort.

This afternoon and evening, you could see areas of patchy smoke.  This is simply from a number of controlled burns happening across the area, mainly the central parts of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.

Recent heavy rains have led to a number of rivers to begin rising again.  While some of the warned rivers haven’t reached bank full stage yet, all of the rivers included in these warnings should be above their respective flood stages by Tuesday…

Topping the list with the most snow is Smoaks in Colleton County with 7 inches!

Several rivers remain above flood stage due to heavy rains throughout December and January.  Runoff from Friday’s snowfall is slowing the fall of these rivers…
