Ida near hurricane strength…still moving northward…

Tropical Depression Ida is moving northward away from Honduras, and it could become a tropical storm soon.

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a FROST ADVISORY for the following counties:  Effingham, Tattnall, Evans, inland Jasper, Jenkins, Screven, Candler, Bulloch, Allendale, Hampton and inland Colleton.

Tropical Depression Ida has now moved into the northwestern Caribbean Sea and is expected to strengthen.

At noon on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, the Chatham Emergency Management Agency will conduct the monthly scheduled test of Chatham County’s Emergency Warning Siren System.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for only Colleton County until midnight.

A TORNADO WATCH remains in effect until midnight for the following counties:  Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper.

A TORNADO WARNING remains in effect for northern Jasper and eastern Effingham Counties until 8:15p.m.

The Tornado Warning for Chatham County has been cancelled.

Tornado Warning for Bryan County has been cancelled.

Tornado Warning for Jasper, Chatham and Effingham Counties continues until 8:15p.m.

A TORNADO WARNING is now in effect for Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Japser Counties until 8:15p.m.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is now in effect until 8:15p.m. for the following counties:  Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Hampton and Jasper

Storm Report:  Glennville, Long Co.:  One person injured, numerous trees and power lines down on Hwy 196.  A tree fell on a car at the Intersection with Flowers Road with one person sustaining minor injuries.
