Burn Center Updates Conditions of Sugar Refinery Patients

The victims of the imperial sugar explosion continue to recover at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.


This morning, hospital officials updated the media on the conditions of the Port Wentworth employees who have been treated since the explosion and fire on February 7:


20 patients were originally admitted

3  remain in critical in burn unit

1  patient is in good condition

2  people are in Doctors Hospital rehab unit

9  plant employees have been discharged from Doctors Hospital

5  people have died as result of injuries while in the hospital.


Today the burn center gave us an inside look at what is being done to help these patients get better and a chance to speak with some of the family members to see how they are holding up.
