WSAV has obtained new video tonight from the Dixie Crystals/Imperial Sugar refinery explosion. It was shot by a firefighter on the scene that night back on February 7. You’ve probably seen video of the explosion from outside of the facility, but for the first time, we’re getting a glimpse of what it looked like from the inside.
Volunteer garden city firefighter Roy Howard caught these images with a helmet cam. Howard was in the burning refinery for more than five hours. His mission was search and rescue. Tonight on News 3 On Your Side at 11, nightside reporter Alice Massimi sit down with Howard as he explains what it was like inside Imperial Sugar that night.
