It’s a special thank you from the CEO at Imperial Sugar. He expressed gratitude to the Memorial Health staff who saved lives the night of the Dixie Crystals Refinery explosion.
His visit comes 12 days after the explosion at the Port Wentworth refinery.
16 of the victims are still being treated at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta. 15 are in critical condition, while one worker is in serious condition.
John Sheptor, Imperial Sugar's CEO says they're alive because of the fast actions and treatment by Memorial Health staff.
He delivered a thank you to all of the folks at Memorial tonight, at the hospital's dinner from senior leadership, on behalf of both the Imperial family and the families of the victims.
“We have employees that are alive tonight because you did what you do best. There's a good reason why you often see doctors and nurses wearing white, because you are angels among us.” Says John Sheptor, CEO of Imperial Sugar Company. “You truly give life at the moment that people most need you. You are in our hearts in our prayers and we give you a lot of credit for the credit that is due, we thank you for all that you are and all that you've done.”
