City flags at half-staff for sugar refinery victims

»  Comments | Post a Comment

from the City of Savannah:

Mayor Otis S. Johnson directed that flags on City facilities be half-staffed on Friday in preparation for the observance of the community-wide Memorial Service tomorrow at the Civic Center for victims of the Imperial Sugar refinery explosion.  Flags are to remain at half-staff for the following week and should be returned to full-staff as of Monday morning, March 3, 2008.

Flags are half-staffed in memory of those who lost their lives; in sympathy with their families and co-workers; in support of those victims who are now recovering, as well as those who treat and care for them; and, in honor and respect of all first responders, emergency personnel, medical, media, and other professionals and members of our community who responded so well, and who continue to respond, recover, and rebuild following this disaster.
