»  Comments | Post a Comment

Lou Brissie, who became a Savannah baseball legend during one remarkable season in 1947, is being honored this week.  A banquet was held Monday at the Savannah Marriott for Brissie-- part of a two day celebration.  Brissie joined the then Savannah Indians after a stint in the war and went on to win 25 games.  He later would play in the big leagues.  Brissie's #3 Jersey will be retired before Tuesday night's Sand Gnats game with HIckory.  The first one thousand fans will receive Brissey repleca t-shirt jerseys.
