Oleksiak scores 29, UNC Greensboro tops Georgia Southern 79-67
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Kevin Oleksiak scored 29 points to
establish a season-high for the second straight game, and North
Carolina-Greensboro beat Georgia Southern 79-67.
Ben Stywall added 16 points and Kyle Hines added 15 for the
Spartans (8-4, 2-1 Southern Conference), who shot 45 percent and
knocked down 42 percent of their 3-point shots in winning their
fifth straight.
Oleksiak had his second strong game of the week, hitting five of
the 11 3s he attempted to surpass the 28 points he scored against
Central Arkansas. He finished just shy of his career-high 31
points, set two seasons ago against Greensboro College.
Louis Graham had 24 points, Julian Allen scored 17 and Matthew
Fields added 10 for Georgia Southern (9-5, 2-2), which held a 41-38
rebounding advantage but had trouble from long range, hitting just
5-of-19 attempts from beyond the arc.
Before the game, U-N-C Greensboro announced it would retire
Hines' jersey Number 42 later this season in honor of the school's
leading scorer and shot-blocker who also is closing in on the
Spartans' rebounding record. He will become the school's first
active player to receive the honor.
