DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Lazarius Coleman scored 16 points and Anthony Jones added 12 as Savannah State defeated Bethune-Cookman 50-36 tonight.
Savannah State led from start to finish in improving to 9-13 for the season. It was only the Tigers' third win in the last ten tries. Bethune-Cookman, which had won six of its last nine, fell to 6-8 while suffering its worst offensive production of the season.
Joseph Flegler contributed ten points for the Tigers, who shot 56.3 percent from the field (18-for-32), including a sizzling 64.7 percent (11-for-17) in the first half.
John Holmes led Bethune-Cookman with 13 points. He was the only Wildcat in double figures.
Savannah State was never in serious trouble against the Wildcats. The Tigers limited Bethune-Cookman to 32.4 percent shooting from the field (12-for-37).
After settling for a 27-15 halftime edge, Savannah State moved to a 17-point margin, 33-16, with 17:15 to play. It was the Tigers' largest lead.
