Gordon leads Mississippi St. to victory over Georgia

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Jamont Gordon had 15 points to lead

Mississippi State to a 60-49 victory today over Georgia.

Mississippi State (11-5, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) extended

its season-high winning streak to six games and improved to 2-0 in

the conference. Mississippi State has won all six contests by at

least 11 points and has not lost at home since Dec. 13.

Georgia (9-5, 0-1) took an early 28-27 lead in the second half,

but didn't hold it.

A 3-pointer by Ben Hansbrough started an 18-2 run that would eat

10 minutes off the clock and put Mississippi State up by a

comfortable 45-30 margin.

Georgia responded with its own 9-0 run late in the half, but a

3-pointer by Mississippi State's Riley Benock ended the run.

Sundiata Gaines led Georgia with 15 points.
