Falcons pick Robiskie as receivers coach, add 3 more assistants
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) - New Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith
continued to fill his staff today with four additions, including
receivers coach Terry Robiskie and defensive line coach Ray
Hamilton, who previously worked with Smith in Jacksonville.
Smith also hired running backs coach Gerald Brown and offensive
quality control coach Glenn Thomas.
Robiskie had 25 years of NFL coaching experience, including
briefs stints as an interim head coach in both Washington and
He was the second straight assistant hired from the staff of
former Miami coach Cam Cameron, who was dumped after a 1-15 season.
Mike Mularkey, the Dolphins' tight ends coach in 2007, joined the
Falcons as offensive coordinator on Friday.
Robiskie's son, Brian, is a star receiver at Ohio State.
Hamilton spent the last five seasons with the Jaguars, most
recently under Smith as defensive coordinator.
Hamilton coached defensive tackles Marcus Stroud and John
Henderson, who combined for five Pro Bowl appearances.
Hamilton previously was defensive line coach for Cleveland from
2001-02 and also coached defensive lines for the New York Jets, New
England Patriots and Los Angeles Raiders.
Brow worked the last years as a college coach at Indiana, where
he was assistant head coach, running backs coach and special teams
coordinator.
Thomas was offensive coordinator for Midwestern State the last
four seasons.
Smith also kept two holdovers from the previous staff, promoting
Brian Van Gorder to defensive coordinator and keeping on Emmitt
Thomas to work with the secondary and serve as assistant head
coach.
