Four prominent PGA TOUR veterans – Steve Elkington, Mark Calcavecchia, Jesper Parnevik and Steve Lowery – will be playing in the 40th annual Verizon Heritage at the Harbour Town Golf Links, April 14-20, it was announced today.
This foursome joins a star-studded field that already includes Defending Champion Boo Weekley, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Justin Leonard and Stewart Cink. All will be shooting for the winner’s check of $990,000 from a record purse of $5.5 million.
Australian native Elkington has 10 PGA TOUR victories under his belt, including a major PGA Championship plus a pair of Players Championships. He’ll be making his seventh start at Harbour Town.
Former British Open king Calcavecchia has 12 PGA TOUR wins to his credit, with earnings of almost $23 million. He’s had a dozen Harbour Town starts, with a pair of Top Ten finishes.
Parnevik, born in Stockholm, Sweden, has been one of the more colorful players on TOUR for the past 15 years. Jesper, with a trio of Top Ten finishes here will be making his 13th Heritage appearance.
Lowery, from Birmingham, AL, caught the golf world’s attention early this season when he rallied in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am to catch Vijay Singh and then go on to beat him in a sudden-death playoff. Steve will be making his 14th start at Harbour Town.
