The Beaufort native came out of the gate strong making birdie on the first hole and continued with birdies on the par four 4th and 7th holes. A two putt birdie on the 551 yard par five 9th hole put the 23 year old at four under par for the day after the front nine. An errant tee shot on the 10th led to the only bogey of the round. Two more birdies on the par five 12th and the par four 13th along with the rest pars gave the third round leader a four shot cushion and a three round total of 202.

First round leader Josh Gallman is in second place after a strong Saturday score of 68 and total score of 206. North Charleston’s Austin Cody and Irmo’s Steve Liebler are tied for third at 208.

The final round of the Championship will be conducted on Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. with the leaders teeing off at 11.15 a.m. 72 players made the thirty six hole cut at 151.

The 2009 SCGA Amateur Championship is being played on the par 72 – 7,042 yard Tom Fazio designed South Course at Berkeley Hall Plantation in Bluffton, SC.
