Major League Baseball's Alex Rodriguez has admitted that he used performance enhancing drugs. That admission came during an interview with ESPN that was broadcast Monday.

Rodriguez told ESPN "I did take a banned substance. For that I am very sorry and deeply regretful.
He said he did it because of the pressure of being baseball's highest paid player.
A-Rod told ESPN he took performance enhancing drugs from 2001 to 2003 while with the Texas Rangers.
He won the first of three American League Most Valuable Player awards during his final season with Texas. Then opted out of his contract and accepted a $275 million agreement with the Yankees. During the ESPN interview, he said it was a different culture back then.
Rodriguez said "I was young. I was stupid. I was naive. I wanted to prove to everyone I was worth being one of the greatest players of all time."
On track to break Barry Bonds' record and become the new home run king, many assumed Rodriguez was clean and that, unlike Bonds' record, his would not be tainted with allegations of cheating.
A-Rod's admission comes two days after Sports Illustrated reported he's on a list of more than 100 players who tested positive for banned substances in 2003.
That's the year Major League Baseball surveyed players to see if mandatory drug testing was needed in the sport. At the time, there were no penalties for a positive result.
One of the biggest stars of the game, Rodriguez claims he's been clean during all his years in New York, but now his imagine is not.
