Weightlifter Cheryl Haworth hosted the first of what plans to be an annual event in Savannah. Twenty-three lifters competed in the event at the home of Coastal Empire Weightlifting off Pennsylvania Avenue.

The first Cheryl Haworth Weightlifting Classic was a "powerful" success Saturday afternoon at the home of Coastal Empire Weightlifting in Savannah. Haworth lifted in front of a gathering of family, friends and competitors. She's getting back into the training mode after taking time off following the Beijing Olympics. Haworth is focused on the United States Nationals.
