Four football players who say they were recruited by Savannah State University have field a civil lawsuit against the school.
The players are Jacob Farmer and Andrew Cannon from Florida, North Carolina's Rico Arellano and in-state recruit Forrest Hill. They accuse the school of denying them admission and athletic scholarships based on race.
In the lawsuit, they claim they were heavily recruited by former head fooball coach, Robby Wells and his staff, were offered scholarships and each verbally committed to SSU prior to National Signing Day.
The suit claims after coach Wells was terminated, SSU withdrew their scholarship offers.
The four men seek admission to Savannah State, scholarship assistance, punitive damages and cost of litigation.
The University withholds comment at this time.
WSAV Sports Director Ken Slats talked with each of these recruits shortly after National Signing Day. Click on the link to see the full story from our in-depth coverage in February.
