Hilton Head Christian Academy football coach Tommy Lewis has his Eagles right where he wants them—playing for another state title. “This is exactly where you hope to be when you start the season back in August,” says Lewis. The Eagles will play for the title game for the fourth time in the last five years when they take on Thomas Sumter Saturday afternoon in Columbia. The Eagles have soared through the season with a 10-1 record edging rival Hilton Head Prep 32-26 last night to earn a spot in the championship.
Thomas Sumter is a team the Eagles are familiar with. Despite winning their contest with them earlier in the season by a lopsided score of 39-10, the Eagles are giving their opponent a lot of respect. “They are a hard hitting team. We can still feel that from when we played them. We know they are going to hit us hard and punch us in the mouth,” says Eagles’ quarterback Luke Sirgo. “There’s a lot of pressure because we won last year. Hopefully we can repeat and win another,” says running back Jabrook Tucker.
Game time is 3:30pm Saturday afternoon in Columbia.
