eGolf Tour's second annual Grand Harbor Open, contested this week at The Patriot Golf Club and The Golf Club at Star Fort in Ninety Six, SC.
Chris Kamin (Phoenix, AZ), the tournament's 36- and 54-hole leader, carded a final-round 67 to win his first career eGolf Tour event in his first career start. Kamin, a longtime Nationwide Tour player, hit a 94-yard wedge shot to 3 feet and birdied the 72nd hole to post a 19-under 268 total to claim a two-shot win and the $24,000 first-place prize. A 37-year-old father of two, Kamin is in his 15th year as a professional and has a combined 47 career starts between the PGA and Nationwide Tours.
Finishing alone in second was former Nationwide Tour player Jonathan Fricke (Covington, GA), who posted rounds of 65-72-67-66--270 to notch his best finish on tour since he won the Stonebridge Classic in September of 2007. The runner-up finish was Fricke's third top-5 and fifth top-10 of the 2011 season.
Peter Malnati (Dandridge, TN), a former University of Missouri standout in his second year as a professional, birdied the par-5 18th to post a 16-under 265 total to claim solo-third-place honors and break out of a four-way tie for third. Malnati trailed Kamin by just two with two to play, but bogeyed the par-3 17th to fall out of title contention.
