Benedictine boys' basketball coach Jason Helton is out after 2 1/2 seasons on the job.
Father Frank Ziemkiewicz, O.S.B., BC’s Headmaster tells WSAV-TV "To go where we needed to, we needed to move on.... we felt a change was needed."
Father Ziemkiewicz would not confirm or deny whether Helton was fired.
The Cadets are 1-6 in Region 3-AAAAA and 2-10 overall in the 2011-12 season.
During Helton's first season (playing in Class-AA) the Cadets went 22-7 according to Georgia PrepCountry. Last season BC finished 3-19.

Jason Helton leaves Benedictine Military School.
Jason Helton has left Benedictine Military School where he was head basketball
coach and a faculty member. Doug Willett and Danny Britt will take responsibility
for instructing Helton’s former students and Willett will serve as interim head
basketball coach.
In making the announcement, Father Frank Ziemkiewicz, O.S.B., BC’s
Headmaster said, “we are taking care to ensure a seamless transition for our
students as we seek to fill the void left by Jason’s departure.”
