COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford was with his family Thursday as legal and ethical questions swirled over his secret trip to see a woman in Argentina with whom he admitted an affair.
NEW YORK (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's mysterious disappearance from his state, topped with misinformation from his staff about where he had gone and what he'd been doing, is the latest sign that Republican governors — once thought to be President Obama's most credible adversaries — haven't quite lived up to their billing.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is resurfacing after a mystery five-day absence and plans to speak to reporters for the first time.
According to the latest stimulus revenue report by the task force, South Carolina has received just more than $332 million in federal stimulus money so far. The largest chunk of that, almost $264 million, went to the state Department of Health and Human Services for Medicaid services. Eckstrom says while medical services for low-income residents is a worthy cause, it hasn't created or saved any jobs.
It's called the "Move Over" law, which requires drivers to move over if possible, or at least slow down, when they come upon an emergency vehicle that's stopped on the side of the road.

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — A wounded suspect who walked away from an Augusta, Ga., hospital while on a smoke break returned to the facility and is now being guarded by South Carolina and Georgia deputies.
Ash Abel, a student at Southside Christian in Simpsonville, says he came to the camp to explore the field. "Just a job opportunity. Like looking, maybe I would want to do this in the future as a career option, just to get to know it better, see if it's what I would like to do," he says.
"I was just thumbing through it and came across 'em," said Jack Meyer. He had just opened a bundle of bills from the Bank of South Carolina, which failed in 1865 at the end of the Civil War. The bundle had been sealed on July 9, 1880.
CLARKESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — A northeast Georgia man is jailed after being shot while leading deputies on a chase through Habersham County, including two churchyards.
About 300 people were in the plant a few miles south of Raleigh when the explosion happened, said ConAgra spokesman Dave Jackson. Parts of the roof collapsed.
In order to participate, a state needs the signature of its governor and its education superintendent or secretary. South Carolina Superintendent of Education Jim Rex has signed on, but Gov. Mark Sanford has not.
