A blast of winter weather is putting the holiday travel season in the deep freeze.
Roads are coated with ice from Seattle to Chicago, through Little Rock, Arkansas and into New England.
It's making for a slick and very dangerous drive.
Still, with gas prices down a $1.30 from last year, the Automobile Association of America says 64-million will try to make a holiday road trip.
Another 3.3 million will take a bus or train.
All of them will need to pack some patience.
Getting out, has been close to impossible at dozens of airports.
Just over eight million people had planned to fly, but now many are not.
The snow and ice has canceled or delayed hundreds of flights.
The cruelest delay may be in seattle, where the weather has stalled pick-ups and deliveries for the local toys-for-tots holiday charity.
"We've been collecting toys since the first of December," explained police Sgt. Peter Horvath. "There are a lot of people in this community who expected these toys to be under the Christmas tree for Christmas, and that's unfortunate."
It could get a bit more crowded out there.
Triple-A says as many as 17-percent of all travelers won't even start their trips until December 24th.
