A flood watch remains in effect for the following Georgia counties: Coffee, Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Wayne, Atkinson, Ware, Pierce, Glynn, Echols, Clinch, Charlton, and Camden through Thursday evening.
A frontal boundary will remain stationary near the Florida and Georgia border. Low pressure will develop along the front and move across the area today. These conditions will be conducive to a prolonged rain event across all of southeast Georgia and most of northeast Florida. Areas in the flood watch already received between 1 and 3 inches of rain over the past weekend and another 1 to 3 inches yesterday. The ground remains saturated in some areas.
Additional rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches will likely cause flooding in the watch area or exacerbate flooding conditions. Rivers, streams, and creeks may experience flooding if more rainfall occurs. In addition ditches may fill causing dirt roads and poorly drained roadways to become impassible.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
