Heavy rainfall and localized flooding are possible late tonight across southeast Georgia and coastal South Carolina. A Flash Flood Watch may be needed. Rain will become likely and it could be heavy at times. Many areas could pick up between 1/4-1/2 inch of rain. A few thunderstorms could also develop.
On Thursday, heavy rainfall and localized flooding will again be possible. A warm front will lift north through the area on Thursday evening and then a cold front will move through the area late Thursday night and early Friday morning. These features may support a significant severe weather event across southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. If severe thunderstorms develop, the storms could produce damaging winds, large hail and even a few tornadoes. Torrential rainfall during this time could also lead to localized flooding.
Also...a Flood Watch is in effect now through Friday morning for the following counties: Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Wayne, Ware, Pierce, Brantley and Glynn.
These areas could see a prolonged rain event. These areas have already received between 2 and 4 inches of rain on Tuesday. Additional rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches through Friday morning will likely cause flooding and exacerbate flooding conditions.
