Flood Warnings Update

A flood warning continues for the Savannah River at Burtons Ferry affecting Screven County, and for the river near Clyo affecting Effingham County in southeastern Georgia as well as Hampton and Jasper Counties in South Carolina.

At 9 pm Monday the Savannah River at Burtons Ferry had a stage of 16.8 feet. Flood stage is 15 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to continue rising to 17.4 feet through Friday evening, additional rises will be possible thereafter. At 18.2 feet, the picnic area at Stoney Bluff Landing becomes flooded. Access to the house at the end of Stoney Bluff Landing Road is limited.

At 9 pm Monday the Savannah River near Clyo had a stage of 16.0 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to remain steady through Wednesday morning and then begin a slow fall. At 14.5 feet, the bottom floor of several riverfront homes along Tom Goethe Road begin to flood.



A flood warning remains in effect for the Ogeechee River near Midville affecting Burke, Jenkins, and Emanuel Counties, and for the river near Eden affecting Bryan, Effingham, and Chatham Counties.

At 1 pm Saturday the Ogeechee River near Midville had a stage of 6.4 feet. Flood stage is 6 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to rise to 6.6 feet by Wednesday afternoon, then begin a slow fall. At 6.0 feet, the access road into the river bluff in Midville begins to flood. The lower portion of Johnson Road near Herndon also becomes covered.

At 8 pm Monday the Ogeechee River near Eden had a stage of 12.3 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring and forecast. The river is forecast to rise to 12.9 feet by Friday morning; additional rises may be possible thereafter. At 13.5 feet, several homes and a picnic area along Yarbrough Landing Road begin to flood.



A flood warning continues for the Canoochee River near Claxton affecting Evans County.

At 8 pm Monday the Canoochee River near Claxton had a stage of 10.6 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. The river is forecast to rise to 11.1 by Tuesday afternoon and fall below flood stage by Thursday morning. At 11.0 feet, several homes along Parker Springs Road in Canoochee Properties become flooded.



A flood warning continues for the Ohoopee River near Reidsville affecting Tattnall County.

At 9 pm Monday the Ohoopee River near Reidsville had a stage of 14.9 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to fall to 13.0 feet by Friday evening. At 14.0 feet, flooding of several riverside unimproved roads and some agricultural land occurs.



A flood warning continues for the Oconee River near Mount Vernon affecting Montgomery and Treutlen Counties.

At 3 am Tuesday the Oconee River near Mount Vernon had a stage of 15.8 feet and falling. No flooding is occurring at this time, but minor flooding is forecast to develop. The river is forecast to begin rising again by Tuesday night and rise to above flood stage by Thursday morning. The river should rise to 16.3 feet by Friday evening. Flood stage is 16.0 feet. At 16.0 feet, the flood plain is flooded affecting mainly grazing land and timberlands. Water reaches the top of the boat ramp on the Wheeler County side of the river..



A flood warning continues for the Ocmulgee River near Lumber City affecting Montgomery, Telfair, and Wheeler Counties.

At 3:45 am Tuesday the Ocmulgee River near Lumber City had a stage of 15.2 feet and was slowly rising. Minor flooding is occurring. Flood stage is 15.0 feet. The river is forecast to continue rising to 15.3 feet and then begin a slow fall on Thursday. At 15.0 feet, minor flooding begins. Water overflows into the broad swampy flood plain. Farm fields on the right bank flood. General agriculture and timber interests are affects by flooding. Water also reaches the top of the boat ramp near the Highway 341 bridge.



A flood warning continues for the Altamaha River at Charlotte affecting Jeff Davis, Montgomery, and Toombs Counties, for the river at Baxley affecting Appling and Toombs Counties, and for the river near Everett City in extreme northwestern Glynn County.

At 9:45 am Monday the Altamaha River at Charlotte had a stage of 18.9 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 15.0 feet. The river is forecast to fall to 18.6 feet by Wednesday morning. At 21.0 feet, homes are affected on the north bank of the river just downstream of gage.

At 9:45 am Monday the Altamaha River at Baxley had a stage of 80.4 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 74.5 feet. The river is forecast to fall to 80.2 feet by Wednesday morning. At 82.0 feet, Davis Landing Road and Morris Landing Road are flooded.

At 5:30 pm Saturday the Altamaha River 3 miles northeast of Everett City had a stage of 15.3 feet and falling. The river is forecast to remain steady near 15 feet through early next week. At 15.0 feet, major flooding occurs along all roads to the southwest of the Altamaha up to Highway 341. Water affects homes along Pennick and Old Jesup Roads as well as homes in Altamaha Park.
