Maine residents have one more reason to look forward to spring.
The state set a new record cold temperature last month.
Scientists announced Tuesday that they have confirmed a -50 reading from a remote weather station situated on the Big Black River, not far from the Canadian border.
The record low was set on the morning of January 16th as an arctic front swept through the area.
The new record beats the previous low of -48 set in 1925.
