Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Cancelled

»  Comments | Post a Comment

There are no active severe weather warnings in the WSAV viewing area at the moment. A line of strong thunderstorms is still moving through central Georgia, but right now the strongest storms are in the southern part of the state. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and penny size hail. They are moving to the east at 40 mph. The storms moving through the viewing area are still dangerous and can produce heavy rains and gusty winds.

A tornado watch remains in effect for Burke, Tattnall, Appling, Wayne, Long, Liberty, Evans, Effingham, Chatham, McIntosh, and Bryan until 7 this evening. A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
