A heat advisory is in effect for Jenkins, Screven, Candler, Bulloch, Effingham, Tattnall, Evans, Bryan, Chatham, Long, Liberty, and McIntosh Counties in southeast Georgia as well as for Allendale, Hampton, Colleton, Dorchester, Berkeley, Jasper, and Beaufort Counties in southeastern South Carolina from noon to 8 pm Friday.
High temperatures ranging from the mid 90s to the lower 100s and humid conditions will produce heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees. Highest heat indices appear most likely between 2 pm and 6 pm. Locally higher heat indices are possible for brief periods during the afternoon and early evening.
A heat advisory means that a period of very hot temperatures can be expected. The combination of heat and humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. You are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids...stay out of direct sunshine...check up on the elderly and stay in an air conditioned location if possible.
