A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for northwestern Wayne, northern Appling, and Jeff Davis Counties in southeast Georgia until 9:00 pm.
At 8:19 pm national weather service doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing penny size hail...and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from 11 miles northwest of Hazlehurst to Plant Hatch to 20 miles east of Plant Hatch...and moving south at 30 mph.
A severe thunderstorm is capable of producing large hail...damaging winds of 58 mph or greater...deadly lightning and very heavy rain. Go inside a sturdy shelter. Move to an interior room and stay away from windows.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until midnight Friday morning for southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina.
