A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the following counties in Georgia: Bryan, Evans, Liberty, Long, and Tattnall until 2:45 this morning. This storm is capable of producing penny sized hail with damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. It is moving east at 50 mph.
A tornado watch remains in effect until 3 AM for the following Georgia counties: Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Bryan, Chatham, Evans, Glynn, Jeff Davis, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Tattnall, Ware, and Wayne. Strong storms will continue to develop and move accross these areas. In addition to the threat of isolated tornadoes, these storms could also produce large hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. Flooding may become a problem, as the storms will be efficient rain producers.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
