A winter weather advisory is in effect for snow for Jenkins and Screven Counties in Georgia; and for the following South Carolina counties: Allendale, Hampton, inland Colleton, Dorchester, and Berkelwhich from 10 PM this evening to 9 AM Monday.
Scattered areas of rain will develop over inland portions of southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina by sunset. Rain will mix with snow for inland portions of southeast Georgia initially then the mix will shift northeast into inland southeast South
Carolina by 9 PM. The precipitation will then change over completely to snow for all affected areas by 11 PM and continue through the early morning hours…tapering off by daybreak Monday morning.
Total snowfall accumulations will be less than 1 inch. Since the ground is relatively warm, most of the accumulations will occur on grassy surfaces…trees and roof tops. However, if a heavier snow burst occurs…elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses would also experience small accumulations.
A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain are expected or occurring. Travel difficulties are likely and motorists should be prepared for slippery roads and reduced visibilities.
