A HIGH SURF ADVISORY is in effect for the following counties: Beaufort, coastal Colleton, coastal Jasper, coastal Bryan, coastal Chatham, coastal Liberty and coastal McIntosh.
This is in effect until 11a.m. Thursday.
Strong northeast winds will continue to produce high surf along the beaches of South Coastal South Carolina and North Coastal Georgia through at least Thursday morning.
Breakers of 5 to 9 feet can be expected, which will combine with higher than normal tides and strong northeast winds to produce moderate to locally severe beach erosion.
The worst surf conditions and beach erosion will occur on northeast facing beaches such as Tybee Island and Sapelo Island.
A high risk for rip currents continues at all area beaches. Dangerous conditions are expected within the surf zone and everyone is encouraged to remain out of the water. An elevated rip current risk will continue for much of this week.
