A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 11a.m. Friday for the following counties: Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham, Coastal Liberty and Coastal McIntosh.
Large waves, breaking as high as 5 to 7 feet along the beaches, will continue along the coast through Friday morning. This may produce moderate beach erosion. The worst surf conditions will occur on northeast facing beaches such as Tybee Island and Sapelo Island.
Elevated tides will continue along the upper Georgia coast. Tide levels are expected to reach near 9.2 feet mean lower low water with this evening’s high tide at Fort Pulaski. This will produce shallow coastal flooding up and down the upper Georgia coast. High tide will occur at the Savannah River entrance at 6:21p.m.
A high risk for rip currents continues into Friday. Dangerous conditions are expected within the surf zone and everyone is encouraged to remain out of the water. An elevated rip current risk will likely continue through the weekend.
