... Weekend Weather won't be a Washout but Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms will occasionally develop...
Our weather has been gloomy with all the clouds hanging on this week. We have periodically seen rain and the conditions on the Atlantic coast have been rough to say the least. All this weather has been caused by a low pressure which developed over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and has drifted very slowly WNW.
Surf is still fairly high this morning along the Georgia coast and could average 4 to 6 feet this morning before lowering this afternoon. Small Craft Advisory conditions continue on the shore for brisk east winds. Rip current risk remains high today... and an elevated risk of rip currents will likely continue into the weekend. Be very cautious if heading to the Atlantic beaches over the holiday weekend.
Shallow coastal flooding may occur at times of high tide today through the weekend. Here are the high tide times at the Savannah River Entrance:
Today: 6:47 am 7:12 pm
Saturday: 7:39 am 8:02 pm
Sunday: 8:29 am 8:52 pm
The low pressure will push toward the Mississippi Delta by Saturday morning but enough deep moisture may linger to have at least a decent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Saturday. The chance of rain is 50% to begin the weekend.
Sunday and Monday partly sunny skies are expected with a 40% coverage of showers and thunderstorms.
