...Shallow coastal salt water flooding this evening...
A coastal flood advisory is in effect for the following counties:
coastal Bryan-coastal Chatham-coastal Liberty-coastal Mcintosh-
Beaufort-coastal Colleton-coastal jasper-
The coastal flood advisory is in effect from 7 pm to 10 pm edt this
evening.
High astronomical tides and a persistent onshore flow will combine
to create a period of shallow salt water flooding along the
southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia coasts this evening.
Around 8 pm...the evening high tide is expected to top out around
9.2 feet mean lower low water on tybee island.
Between 7 pm and 10 pm this evening...these high tides will briefly
produce shallow salt water flooding of some streets in coastal
communities...including Beaufort and Savannah...and
will inundate some area beaches.
If heavy rain falls around the time of high tide...the potential
for fresh water flooding will increase along the coast.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate some salt water flooding of low-lying
areas near the coast. Shallow coastal flooding begins along the
northern Georgia coast when tides reach 9.2 feet mean lower
low water at Fort Pulaski.
