The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY for the following counties: Beaufort, coastal Colleton and coastal Jasper.
This COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY is in effect from 8pm to 11pm this evening.
Along the southeast South Carolina coast, high astronomical tides and a persistent onshore flow will combine to create a period of shallow salt water flooding this evening.
Just before 9p.m., the evening high tide is expected to peak around 7.0 feet mean lower low water on Charleston Harbor. Between 8pm and 11pm this evening, these high tide levels will briefly produce shallow salt water flooding of some streets in coastal communities, including Charleston and Beaufort and will inundate area beaches.
If heavy rain falls around the time of the evening high tide, the potential for fresh water flooding will increase along the coast.
