The flood advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas has been cancelled for west central Chatham and central Bryan counties in southeast Georgia.
The rainfall intensity has diminished and so has the threat for additional flooding.
Any heavy rainfall that re-develops across the coastal empire and low country this afternoon could result in significant ponding of water on area roads and in low spots. Slow down to reduce the risk of hydroplaning. If water covers the entire roadway or is flowing... find another route. The water is probably much deeper than it appears and only one foot of water can stall a vehicle. When encountering flooded roads make the smart choice... turn around... don't drown.
Here are examples of the street flooding this morning in Beaufort. Pictures are courtesy of the Island Packet from readers Bob Stelnack and Morgan Lane in the Rose Hill area.
