A coastal flood advisory is in effect for Beaufort, coastal Colleton, Charleston, and coastal Jasper Counties from 9 am this morning to 1 pm this afternoon.
Elevated tides will continue to impact south coastal South Carolina today. Tide levels are expected to reach 7.1 to 7.3 ft mean lower low water in the Charleston Harbor with the next high tide. These levels typically produce shallow coastal flooding up and down the lower Couth Carolina coast, particularly in the downtown Charleston area.
High tide will occur at 11:20 am in the Charleston Harbor and 12:34 pm in the Beaufort River near Beaufort.
A coastal flood advisory indicates that winds and tides will combine to generate some salt water flooding of low-lying areas near the coast. Shallow coastal flooding begins along the southern South Carolina coast when tides in the Charleston Harbor reach 7.0 feet mean lower low water.
