Heavy rain started on Friday afternoon across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. Many of us saw between 1 and 2 inches and the majority of that fell in a 2-3 hour period. Water ponded on roads making driving difficult in those low lying areas. More rain fell across central Georgia where some areas picked up as much as 3-4 inches. Now that the rain is letting up, street flooding should become less and less of a problem. A number of area rivers are still at or above their respective flood stages. This rain will slow their falls, and could even cause additional rises heading into the weekend.
