»  Comments | Post a Comment

(Just in from WSAV New's 3's Andrew Davis...Power is out in some spots north of springfield. Sheriffs asking folks to stay off the roads because they are slick especially on the overpasses. Many reports of sliding cars into ditches. A few accidents. No major crashes so far.)

Latest on tonight's winter storm...the WINTER STORM WARNING has been cancelled for our southern counties.

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has cancelled the WINTER STORM WARNING for the following counties: Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Wayne, Ware and Pierce.

Snow has quickly diminished to areas of drizzle and snow flurries. No additional snow accumulation is expected for these areas. Even so...there is a risk of black ice developing on elevated roads and bridges as temperatures drop below freezing causing wet spots to freeze.

As for the rest of the area...the forecast is on target.

A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect until 6a.m. Saturday for the following counties: Jenkins, Screven, Allendale, Hampton and inland Colleton.

In this area, expect moderate to heavy snow this evening before tapering off after midnight. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches, with locally higher amounts, can be expected.
