Flood Warnings Update

Many area rivers remain high due to heavy rainfall at the beginning of the year. All area rivers had fallen below flood stage, but the Savannah River is rising once again and should be out of its banks through the beginning of the work week...

A flood warning remains in effect for the Savannah River near Clyo affecting Effingham and Screven Counties in Georgia as well as Hampton and Jasper Counties in South Carolina.

At 6 pm Sunday the Savannah River near Clyo had a stage of 11.1 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to fall below flood stage by Monday morning. At 11.0 feet, the backyards of several homes along Tom Goethe Road flood.



Residents and those with interests along these rivers should take action to protect threatened property. High and fast flowing rivers are not suitable for recreation of any kind. Keep children away from flooded areas. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. Turn around...don’t drown.
