Weather Headlines
1. Facing Near-Record Lows Tonight
2. Warming Up Slightly Tomorrow
3. Another Arctic Blast Hits Tomorrow Night
4. Chance of winter precipitation Thursday night into Friday morning
We're not just facing cold weather anymore. There's a lot more going on, and this includes the possibility of snow flakes!
For tonight, we will see yet another hard freeze. Under mostly clear skies and light westerly winds, we will drop to lows for inland areas in the lower to mid 20s and near 30 on the coast. The current record low is 21 set back in 1959. Because tonight's winds will be light, our wind chills won't be as cold. Wind chills should bottom out at around 20.
On Thursday, it's the warmest day of 2010...so far!!!!!!! Afternoon highs will reach the upper 40s to the lower 50s. Okay...so it's not that exciting, but at least it is warmer! We will have sunny skies with increasing clouds later in the day. These clouds are related to our storm system that could bring winter precipitation. So as you look up tomorrow and see the clouds moving in, you'll know what is on the way!
On Thursday night into Friday morning, it's tricky. A storm system is moving into the area. From 7p.m. until midnight, there will be a chance of rain showers. From midnight until 7a.m., rain could turn over to freezing precipitation...possibly sleet and even snow. We are not expecting anything to accumulate. However...this frozen precipitation could create some slick spots on area roads. We are not expecting significant ice to develop. Just be careful and slow down.
On Friday, the bitterly cold air returns. On Friday, we won't get above 40 degrees!!!! And over the weekend, it will stay dry and it will stay bitterly cold.
Stay tuned to STORM TEAM 3.
Stay warm and keep looking up!
