Cold Weather, Possible Record Breaking

»  Comments | Post a Comment

I bet this doesn't surprise you...the length of this cold weather is quite unusual.

But the numbers could set some records. According to records that go back to 1874, the National Weather Service is tracking how many days our low temperatures have dropped at or below 30 degrees.
1. 13 DAYS IN A ROW...ENDING FEBRUARY 8...1966.
2. 11 DAYS IN A ROW...ENDING DECEMBER 26...1960.
3. 10 DAYS IN A ROW...ENDING JANUARY 11...2010.
10 DAYS IN A ROW...ENDING JANUARY 7...2001.

I enjoy breaking records, but this isn't one that I'd like to see happen. I don't need a first place ribbon here. I'm ready for it to warm up instead!!!! And it will...eventually.

For tonight, under clear to mostly clear skies, we will drop to lows in the 20s for inland areas and the lower to mid 30s on the coast.

On Tuesday, skies will stay mostly sunny. With westerly winds, it will warm up slightly with highs in the upper 40s to the lower 50s. It's not a big warm up, but we are at least headed in the right direction.

Each day in the 7-day forecast, it will warm up.

By Friday, we should see highs return to the 60s. The only thing is...this warm up could come with some rain showers. There's a good chance of rain right now on Saturday and Sunday. We will keep tracking this storm system for you. Just know this...it's supposed to stay above freezing!

Keep Looking Up!
