A flood watch in effect for Washington, Johnson, Emanuel, Laurens, Treutlen, Dodge, Telfair, Wheeler, Montgomery, and Toombs Counties through late Saturday night.
A low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico will move over the southeastern U.S. Overnight...spreading abundant gulf moisture over the area. This will produce periods of heavy rain through Saturday evening. The rain will end Sunday.
Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are expected over the watch area with this event. In addition to rising water on creeks, streams, and rivers; ponding of water on roads is expected in low lying areas and areas may be slow to drain due to debris in ditches and drains.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
