A flood warning continues for the Savannah River at Burtons Ferry affecting Screven County in southeastern Georgia and Allendale County in South Carolina as well as for the river near Clyo affecting Effingham and Screven Counties in southeastern Georgia as well as Hampton and Jasper Counties in South Carolina.
At 9 pm Friday the Savannah River at Burtons Ferry had a stage of 15.7 feet. Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to remain nearly steady through the weekend. At 15.0 feet, flooding of some adjacent agricultural lands occurs. Most boat ramps along the river are unusable.
At 8 pm Friday the Savannah River near Clyo had a stage of 12.2 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast continue rising to near 13.5 feet by Monday. Additional rises may be possible thereafter. At 14.5 feet, the bottom floor of several riverfront homes along Tom Goethe Road begins to flood.
A flood warning remains in effect for the Ogeechee River near Midville affecting Burke, Emanuel, and Jenkins Counties as well as for the river near Eden affecting Bryan, Effingham, and Chatham Counties.
At 8 pm Friday the Ogeechee River near Midville had a stage of 6.7 feet. Flood stage is 6.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to rise to near 7.0 feet by Monday morning, then begin a slow fall. At 6.0 feet, the access road into the river bluff in Midville begins to flood. The lower portion of Johnson Road near Herndon also becomes covered.
At 8 pm Friday the Ogeechee River near Eden had a stage of 11.8 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to continue rising to near 12.5 feet by Monday morning. At 13.5 feet, several homes and a picnic area along Yarbrough Landing Road begin to flood.
A flood warning continues for the Canoochee River near Claxton affecting Evans County.
At 8 pm Friday the Canoochee River near Claxton had a stage of 13.0 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. The river is forecast to continue rising to near 13.3 feet by Saturday morning. At 13.5 feet, the main access road into Canoochee Properties, Hillside Road, becomes flooded.
A flood warning continues for the Ohoopee River near Reidsville affecting Tattnall County.
At 8 pm Friday the Ohoopee River near Reidsville had a stage of 17.3 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to rise to 19.0 feet by Saturday afternoon and then begin a slow fall. At 19.0 feet, the access road into the Joy Bluff Community is covered with 1.5 feet of water.
A flood warning continues for the Altamaha River at Charlotte affecting Jeff Davis, Montgomery, and Toombs Counties as well as for the river at Baxley affecting Appling and Toombs Counties.
At 11:45 am Friday the Altamaha River at Charlotte had a stage of 14.4 feet. Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to continue rising to near 16.8 feet by Monday morning. At 15.0 feet, flooding of mainly low lying areas occurs.
At 11:45 am Friday the Altamaha River at Baxley had a stage of 76.2 feet. Flood stage is 74.5 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is forecast to continue rising to near 78.6 feet by Monday evening and then begin falling. At 78.0 feet, water begins to affect homes in the Carter Bight and Davis Landing areas.
A flood warning continues for the Oconee River near Mount Vernon affecting Montgomery, Treutlen, and Wheeler Counties.
At 9 pm Friday the Oconee River near Mount Vernon had a stage of 15.3 feet. Flood stage is 16.0 feet. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Saturday evening and continue rising to near 16.1 feet by Sunday evening, then fall back below flood stage on Monday. At 16.0 feet, flood stage is reached. The flood plain becomes flooded. These conditions affect mainly grazing land and timberlands. Flood waters reach the top of the boat ramp on the Wheeler County side of the Oconee River.
A flood warning continues for the Satilla River at Atkinson affecting Brantley County.
At 10:45 am Friday the Satilla River at Atkinson had a stage of 10.8 feet. Flood stage is 13.0 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Monday morning and continue rising to near 14.3 feet by Wednesday morning.
Residents and those with interests along these rivers should take action to protect threatened property. High and fast flowing rivers are not suitable for recreation of any kind. Keep children away from flooded areas. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. Turn around...don’t drown.
